Biostar M5ALA Ver 1.0 Super Socket 7 ATX motherboard built on the ALi Aladdin V
chipset, M1541 northbridge and M1543 southbridge. An AMD-K6-2/300AFR processor
is installed in the Socket 7 ZIF with its heatsink and fan, and one 32 MB PC100
SDRAM DIMM is fitted. The board was photographed running its own Award BIOS
Standard CMOS Setup, BIOS ID 2A5KKB0D, reporting 640K base memory, 31744K
extended memory and 32768K total, which matches the memory installed. Sold as a
board level assembly. This is not a complete computer.

Requires a 20-pin ATX power supply. Requires a video card; there is no onboard
video. The AGP slot is 3.3 V keyed, so AGP 1x and 2x cards fit, and later cards
that are keyed for 1.5 V only will not seat. Memory is EDO or SDRAM to a 128 MB
total across the two SIMM banks and the two DIMM banks. Host bus speed is set by
jumper JP2 using the table printed next to the slots, with 66, 75, 83 and 100 MHz
available; the installed K6-2/300 runs 3x at 100 MHz or 4.5x at 66 MHz. IDE
channels run at ATA-33. The board uses standard ATX mounting holes and a standard
ATX rear I/O cutout. The Award BIOS revision flashed on this board is not stated,
so support for later K6-III and K6-2+ parts is not claimed.
